Split Pea Soup
Give peas a chance.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons avocado oil
- 3 bay leaf
- black pepper
- 6 medium carrot sliced
- 6 spears celery sliced
- 8 ounces ham steak diced
- 1 large onion diced
- parsley chopped (optional)
- salt
- 3 cups split peas
- 8 cups water
Method
- Cut onions, carrots, and celery.
- Add the oil into the Instant Pot. Set to SAUTE.
- Once the oil is hot, stir in the onion, carrots, and celery. Cook until they are soft, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in split peas, bay leaves, and water (8 cups water for 3 cups split peas).
- Turn off the SAUTE function. Cover and seal the Instant Pot and set to cook on HIGH pressure for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes of high pressure, allow the cooker to release pressure naturally. This will take about 10 to 15 additional minutes.
- Open the lid and stir the soup. Taste and adjust the seasonings as desired. Serve hot with a sprinkle of parsley (if desired).
